  • Saturday, October 20 — Ventura Yacht Club sponsors the Lady Driver Race, October Daysail #1 — We’re hoping several boat-owners and FYC boat skippers will take a few members along and either enter the race or come out and take pictures!
  • Sunday, October 21 – Caregivers Sailathon, October Daysail #2 – This event is a fundraiser for Caregivers, a volunteer organization that helps care for our local elderly population. It is open to any type of watercraft, and a lap course is provided.  Participants solicit pledges for each lap sailed, rowed, paddled, or peddled. Teams from various yacht clubs “compete” for the most watercraft on the water as well as the most money donated to Caregivers.  This is a fun event for a good cause.
  • Sunday, October 28 – GPS Primer & Practice – We meet ashore for an hour primer about latitude and longitude and how to enter lat/long info into your GPS (iPhone, iPad). We then go for a daysail and use the GPS to sail to selected waypoints.

  • Wednesday, October 10, CIWSA General Meeting & Elections, Pierpont Bay Yacht Club (PBYC, 1363 Spinnaker Dr, Ventura) 6:30-8:30PM — Yes, it’s on a Wednesday this month! Program: Stephanie York (former CIWSA Member, Racer, Mexico cruiser, and 2017 R2AK veteran):   Preparing to cruise, the psychology of leaving, and expectations and realities of crewing on a cruising boat. This is also our annual election meeting. The email and Google Form for dinner RSVP will follow in the next few days. And the slate of candidates and proxy information will also be sent to CIWSA members in the next few days.
  • Thursday, November 8, CIWSA General Meeting, Channel Islands Yacht Club (CIYC, 4100 S Harbor Blvd, Oxnard) 6:30-8:30PM — Program: Alison Gabel, CIWSA Member, Commercial Pilot, and So Pacific Cruiser, will share some of the highlights from their cruising experiences between Channel Islands and Australia.
